Boutique labels/distributors release enhanced editions of films on physical media formats. While extra attention is paid to design and packaging, the value of these releases mostly lies in the picture and sound quality of the discs and the plethora of extra’s that come with the film, such as different cuts of the film, behind-the-scenes, and booklets with essays, interviews, and opinion pieces. Some well-known boutique labels are The Criterion Collection, Eureka!, and Indicator.
